We ordered Togo. The quote time was 20 minutes which was accurate We got the Hawaiian thin crust, meat lovers square, Buddys bread and the antipasto salad. All items were so good!!!! In so picky when it comes to pizza (maybe because there's a pizza joint on every corner around here) but this pizza was phenomenal. The only negative I have about it which they lost a star was that the pizza sizes were on the smaller side. We will be back and I'm excited to try different things! Also- the cheese on the pizza isn't like anything else! So fresh and yummy!

It's 9:30pm on a Sunday football evening and I'm craving pizza. So I call buddy's pizza and asked " Elena" that I would like to place a carryout. After a few seconds of silence and a huge deep breath it seems as she was trying to tell me to fuck off it's to late! This just got me so heated it killed my apatite to even eat. I will make sure I call the manager or higher and complain to the fullest. This place has okay pizza with terrible service. I'm a big spender when it comes to eating out, I will never give this place a dime.

Really great pizza. Had a pizza-off with Buddy's, Jet's and Green Lantern and it came in (a close) second place. Salad is always great here.

Someone told me that they had the best gluten free pizza they have ever had here...well, they lied! Wow was it bad. It looked gross, but I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and yuck! It tasted like pure garlic, which is really not my thing and the crust was really soggy and tasted underdone. I wouldn't suggest this pizza to gluten free pizza lovers, it's not worth the time!

Wow, great gluten free pizzas. Had the Sicilian, substituting roasted garlic for green peppers, on the gluten free crust. Man, I so wanted pizza, and this hit the spot! While the gluten free is thinner than the traditional thick crust at Buddies, I swear, you couldn't tell it was not wheat. Amazing! Guys had the Original Square Ultimate Italian. They were also in pie heaven. Yummmmmmy! And the antipasto salad is sooooo very good.

What happened? This used to be one of our favorite places for pizza. The pizza was poorly cooked, had very few toppings, we asked for extra sauce and got virtually none. There's absolutely nothing good left about this place

Okay I would like to start by saying this was my FIRST time dining in a Buddy's. I know, I know, how can I be from this area and never stopped in. I have had their pizza before, just not in a sit down location. The second thing I will tell you is I am not a fan of Detroit style pizza. WHAT? HOW DARE I? Sorry guys in general I love a round pizza, and a really good crust. A thin pizza is also my fav. That being said-I give this pizza and this place 4 wonderful stars. Here's why. We got here and it was packed. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table but it went by quickly. The place is huge and beautiful. There were so many people but it didn't feel cramped. It was also very very loud, but that was okay too. We ordered an individual antipasto salad.Plenty for 2 people with extra. That was great. They ask if you want the dressing on or if you want it on the side to add yourself. I love that option. We had it mixed in. It was just right. Then we ordered the 4 piece Detroiter Pizza. It took about 15 minutes to come out but that's expected. Our waitress checked on us a ton, which was impressive seeing the number of tables she had. The pizza came out and it smelled fantastic. The other thing you should know is I really don't care for pizza sauce. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, you are saying. Well, that's just me. I'd rather tell you these things so you can understand how much I do like this pizza and that is impressive! Pizza was super good. I picked the pieces with the least sauce, but it was so cheesy and flavorful it didn't matter. Corners were nice and crisp, which I love. If I have a sq. pizza I want a corner piece. These were cheesy, not burnt but not soggy, and magical. The pepperoni was also crispy which I just love. Top that off with some red pepper flakes and you sir have yourself a good pizza. I would highly recommend going here. You may have to wait, but the other pizzas and some of the non-pizza items (mac and cheese...kid at the table next to us I almost took it from you. you are lucky I restrained myself) look and smell heavenly. Worth the wait. The vibe was cool too. There were all age groups here. Some having drinks, some with large groups of children. Perfect for all ages. If you typically don't like a Detroit Style Pizza, I would still try them out. The staff seemed to all be very happy, helpful, and fast to refill drinks, places, napkins etc... Good job Buddy's! I will return many times :)

One of the better chain pizza restaurants! Great atmosphere and GREAT pizza! I have been here multiple times and it's consistently great. For vegans: they have vegan cheese so go on in and have yourself some pizza!

Yesterday was the first EVER having pizza at Buddy's and I was blown away. It was amazing! Only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Had the antipasto salad and a large pizza. The service was amazing, food was amazing, noisy, but great food. Hands down, best pizza in town!

Always heard great thing from friends and decided to try it for myself. We had the greek salad which was fantastic. Also had an order of the bread sticks, which my kids loved. Hot out of the oven and soft and delicious. We had the Sicilian pizza which was recommended by our very patient server. All in all we left happy and can't wait to go back soon.

DH and I went here for dinner on New Years Eve at around 7:30. Buddy's was packed and we waited about a half hour for a table, which is what the hostess quoted us. We ordered the small BBQ chicken pizza, buddy bread, and the burger. For some reason, the buddy bread is AMAZING and of course it is super filling (mmmm....carbs) and I can't seem to get enough of it. By the time I had a few sticks of that, I was only able to eat one slice of pizza, but that just means more leftovers! I love the BBQ chicken pizza, the sauce is so tangy and sweet and the amount of cheese buddy's uses is just right! Hubs said the burger was good and had no complaints about that or the fries it came with. The service was prompt and efficient, especially considering that the place was completely full. The minus one star is really for the price. It seems a little steep - 10.50 for a small (4 slices) but what am I complaining about since I still had a left over box to take home?

I would love to post a good review as I have enjoyed Buddy's other locations. I had a birthday party and wanted to get Buddy's Pizza for the guests. The place having opened this week was very new so I wanted to give them a try. I called and asked if there were any specials and was told by someone with an attitude that yea, the special is a 45 minute wait. I laughed thinking they might just be acting a little sarcastic. Then I asked if there are any discounts going on with the grand opening and he said they don't need to do discounts. Told him that I had 25 guests to feed and he said well, it's $17 per pizza so figure out how many you want. I said don't bother and took my business to Jets. The pizza was amazing. Great crust and the service was top notch. I really wanted to like Buddy's out here bit I huess I'll have to go down to Warren where they care about their customers.

I have been here 5-6 times and half the time it is good and half the time is isn't. We had my sisters rehearsal dinner there. They "forgot" we had booked the private room and it was full of customers when we got there. They only assigned one server to a group of 50 people, so the groom's parents ended up serving also. The pizza is amazing. If you get carry out make sure you ask for silverware, napkins, and ketchup. Also, fries were undercooked for my carry out.

They've got a good pie! I stopped in here the other day and only ordered a sandwich and even that was pretty good. If you've never had Buddy's, it's worth checking out.

We arrived at 6:15 on a saturday and were told an hour to hour and a half wait. After an hour, the hostess told me we were next table. Then after another 15 minutes two large groups were seated and still we waited. The hostess girls rather than be nice and apologize, began talking about us and saying "we told them an hour and a half". They were snippy and rude rather than understanding. The manager said he would look into it and disappeared. It was more aggravating that they kept saying we were next than how long we waited. And, noone empathized or apologized. After we were seated our young waitress had a similar attitude. I ordered the cheese lasagna with meat sauce and mushrooms. She came back to tell me they only have meat lasagna (strange as there is no meat lasagna on the menu). When I received my meal, it was indeed cheese lasagna, no mushrooms no meat. Everyone else enjoyed food.

One of the highest rated chains in Michigan and for good reason. Low beer menu though was surprised!

We don't get out to eat very often, and we mostly stick to places we know that have good service and food. We tried the new Buddy's in Shelby this past weekend. IT was fabulous! Excellent atmosphere, great food, and Cathy C. our waitress was probably one of the best we've ever had! Had the Veggie Starters, they were so good! Then Antipasto salad, again it was perfection! For pizza BBQ chicken and Canadian bacon with black olives. They were cooked perfectly, and the homemade sauces were awesome!! I highly recommend this pizzeria!

The pizza is always great at Buddy's. Our out-of town guests could not believe how good and said they need to open a location in DC. I have been here several times and have always ordered pizza. I could not tell you how the rest of the menu is. I will have to go back to try something else. We were not happy with management. Prior to our visit tonight we had made arrangements with a member of management to have 30 people in the back room for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Upon our arrival the room was not set, there were other guests dining in the room we reserved and the management on duty had no idea we were coming. Needless to say it was utter chaos. However, all ended well I am able to look beyond the poor management team and it's snafu and will go back again. The food is that good. The rating would have been four stars if this issue had not happened. The elderly guests in our party found it to be quite loud inside and were unable to participate in the conversation at the table.

I've always enjoyed Buddy's pizza. This is my first time at this location and the food is good as well. The service was a tad slow for being nearly empty but nothing to stop you from coming.

If you have read my review for the Buddy's Pizza in Warren, then you know I'm a fan. Buddy's is great. That statement holds true for their newest location in Shelby Twp. What is not to like? The new location is closer to me. It is all shiny and new. The quality is what I have grown to expect from Buddy's. Can I give six stars?

    (5)
  • Brie B.

3.5 stars. I've enjoyed both of my experiences here, but I really don't understand why everyone loses their shit over this pizza. It's delicious and you can tell they use high quality ingredients, but it's not the best pizza I've ever had. The buddy's bread is fantastic though and the beers are priced really well. Even though I think it's really overrated, I live like 2 minutes away so I'll definitely be back.

This was my first time to this location. It is beautiful inside. I usually always compare their pizza to the original location because the pans are seasoned very well. I got their multi grain crust with cheese and a salad and it was just as good as the one on Connat. They also had Guinness on tap.

The pizza here is GREAT! I have been here many times and it is always amazing! Individual salads are big enough to share with another person. They have a web coupon that is $2 off a small and $4 off a large. Good happy hour too. Half off appetizers in bar area.

Yay, Buddy's came to the east side! Thanks to a snow day, we were lucky to get in without a wait on a Saturday night. Service was a little slow and she forgot our bread (but didn't charge for it and I ate way too much anyway without it), but it could be the snow day or the newness so I won't hate on 'em yet. Because the pizza is as awesome as ever - it is the BEST Detroit style pizza after all - as was the salad. Don't forget to sign up for the bday club online, and regularly check for coupons!

I have not yet been able to dine in, as they have been packed since they opened. I've gotten about 4 carry outs at this location. Three of the four times the cashier showed us the pizza before we left to make sure it looked good. This is pleasing because the pizza is always beautiful. I like the detroiter and the margherita pizzas. We have had two disappointing appetizers at this location. Once the cheese-sticks weren't cooked long enough and I ended up microwaving them. The meatballs were also unexciting. I chose to give them four stars anyways because the pizza is that good.

Truly the best pizza ever! Carry out staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. So happy about the new location here in shelby township!

Had lunch here the first Saturday that they were open. Pizza and Antipasto Salad were both exactly what we expected from our experiences at other Buddy's locations and that is definitely not a bad thing. Atmospehre here is really nice and modern, truly a departure from their other local dine in stores. Service was friendly and prompt. All of the other servers seemd very friendly and a few even stopped to talk to my kids. For the person complaining...the tone they took with you might have been a little rude, but you definitely sound like someone who has never worked a day in the service industry. How completely clueless can you be than to call such a hotly anticiapted restaurant during their Grand Opening for a Carry Out order and not know what you want to order. It's very simple to find their menu online and if you didn't have an idea how many pizzas to get, ask anyone you know as there aren't many Detoriters who haven't had Buddy's pizza and wouldn't be able to help you estimate how many pizzas you would need. Same goes for the specials...when you drive by a place and the parking lot is overflowing and the line is out the door, they don't need to do specials.

This is my first time here and my friend has been here multiple times. We were sT and told our server would be right with us. We had selected our drinks and picked out our order before our server even came to greet us. She grab our drinks. I got a coke my friend got a water and lemonade. The water glass had a piece of straw wrapper in it before she even put her straw in and the lemonade glass had a seed in it, but it wasn't fresh squeezed lemonade. We waited another few minutes for her to come back to take our order and it took 10-15 minutes to get the appetizer. We got the 4 slice ham and pineapple pizza and the pineapple was just one ring per slice. She came back long enough to refill my drink but that was about it. When we looked around she was always chatting with her. Co-workers. When we asked for a box and a bill we waited a while for the bill, then again for it to be picked up. While we were waiting for it to be picked up my friend took a walk around to see if it was busy to gauge the slow service time, she found our server standing on the other side of the wall chit-chatting with other co-workers. The place had good food, but the service was a little lacking.

Wish we could have eaten. Buddy's is usually solid pizza but 90 minutes and no table made us leave. We understood it was a Saturday but the girls up front kept seating tables even though we were next. Manager showed up and said he would look into it and disappeared. Customer service sucks. Should have ordered takeout.

We recently moved out of state and quickly learned that Detroit has some of the best pizza! Buddy's is great and it is nice to have one in this area of metro Detroit. Nice place, good staff, and same great pizza. Buddy's is my husband's favorite deep dish!
